HOW

How?

How does evaporative Equine cooling and filtration work?

As warm air passes over wet filter pads, water naturally evaporates into the air. The air is cooled as it gives up the heat required to evaporate the water. Simple. Filters remove larger particles of dust. Smaller particles are trapped on the wet pads which alos remove water soluable pollutants such as ammonia, nitrogen and sulphur dioxides and ozone. Cool clean air also reduces odour and flies.

Comparison: evaporative cooling (EC) versus air conditioning (AC)

  • EC generally costs three quarters less than traditional AC to install
  • EC energy costs are typically less than a quarter of the costs of standard AC
  • EC emits 1.5 tonnes of carbon a year compared to a massive 12 tonnes a year for AC

Improved air quality makes equine respiratory disease less likely
Better air quality reduces dust and makes equine respiratory disease less likely.

  • Better levels of rest and recovery from exercise
  • Less water and electrolyte loss and less drying of the respiratory tract
  • Reduced susceptibility to disease, especially respiratory disease
  • Less energy expended on thermoregulation
  • Improved fertility
  • More efficient weight gain for growing animals in extreme climates
  • Better rest and recovery in animals after stressful transport or recovery from illness or injury

Improved air circulation benefits horses and staff
A third of people who work with racehorses are thought to suffer from occupational respiratory disease. Evaporative equine cooling and air filtration delivers less airborne dust, reduces the numbers of airborne virus and bacteria and fewer unpleasant odours by eliminating volatile compounds in stables such as ammonia. Excellent air quality and comfort means great performance from happy, healthy horses and staff.

Structured air circulation reduces the spread of disease

Our systems also allow structured air circulation within stables and other environments, such as veterinary hospitals, to minimise the horse to horse airborne transmission of infectious agents.
